Great Option for Missing Teeth
There may be times when your teeth may not be saved due to cracks or damage beyond repair, or because of severe periodontal disease. With the loss of a tooth, a person may lose a certain quality of life and may suffer because of speech impairment, deteriorating bone structure, difficulty biting or chewing, or just embarrassment from having missing teeth. For many years, the answer to this problem was dentures or partial dentures, but, with advanced technology, implants have now been designed to be stronger, longer lasting, well-functioning, and appear as natural teeth. Dr. Chung, at Springwater Dental, believes that everyone deserves a perfect smile with a full set of teeth, which is why he proudly offers dental implants for patients who would benefit from them. Dr. Chung offers sedation treatments for those who would feel more comfortable with it. Click here or call (503) 902-6604 for your dental implants in Portland today!
Twenty-Eight With Dentures… No Way!
“I am twenty eight and had to extract all of my teeth on one side of my mouth. I am young and wanted to have a full set of teeth for the rest of my life. I went to Dr. Chung‘s office and explained my situation. He and his team explained the cost and their payment options which made it very affordable to me and we scheduled the implant process. After the exam we discovered that I needed a bone graft to help my bone structure to be strong and healthy enough to fuse to the titanium peg. We got that all done painlessly with sedation and about eight months later my smile is restored and I have a full set of normal looking teeth. I love my smile.”
Dental Implant Process
Once you and Dr. Chung have decided that Implants are right for you we’ll take the following steps:
- Dr. Chung will give you a complete examination of your teeth and gums to treat any issues as needed
- When your oral health is up to par, the implant process will begin
- The first stage of the implant process is Implant Placement, which is to surgically bury the titanium implant (which replaces the root of your tooth) flush with your jaw bone and underneath the gum. This prevents damage to it as it heals
- After osseointegration, or the fusing of the implant and your bone, the gum over the implant will be removed and the implant will be exposed
- The second stage will connect some form of a post to the titanium peg known as the abutment
- The last stage will be to fabricate your choice of custom made crown in a lab and connect the crown to the successfully osseointegrated implant
- Dr. Chung offers sedation for all those who would benefit throughout all stages of the implant process

Missing Any Teeth?
Dental implants have a success rate of 95 percent, according to research from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dental implants may be viewed as a better alternative than a dental bridge because with implants it is not required to cut or file down your natural teeth. You do, however, need enough bone in the missing tooth area to support the titanium peg that is inserted into the bone structure. If there is not enough bone, you can have a bone graft. If you have more than one tooth that needs to be replaced, one surgically implanted titanium peg can support more than one dental crown, and it does not need the support of any surrounding natural teeth. Dr. Chung is very experienced and would love to restore your smile and confidence by helping you to receive dental implants. He also does sedation dentistry for those who may have extra concerns.
