My Teeth Look Brand New!

“I will admit it I am not a spring chicken anymore. I did have amalgam fillings that were several years old. I guess they wore out and my teeth were chipping and cracking around them. I came in to see Dr. Chung and he cautioned me that if we didn’t remove them and replace them my teeth could be permanently damaged. I didn’t want to pay for that many, but with the kind help of their team, I have my finances in place and got all the ruined ones replaced, all painlessly using sedation. I am so glad I did. I can look in the mirror and I feel like my teeth are brand new. I love my smile.”

composite fillings in Portland

Composite Resin Strengthens Teeth

Composite resins consist of a silicon dioxide-filled, tooth-colored plastic mixture that is cured by a blue light to restore your teeth to an attractive healthy state you will love. Because composites are not made of metal, we can mix and match different shades to match the natural color of the surrounding teeth. Another advantage to using composite bonds involves the strengthening and support the remaining tooth structure will receive. Composite fillings will actually insulate against temperature changes and will even inhibit continuing breakage. Composites are now more durable and are touted to last seven to ten years, which is as long as amalgams will last. But what is most desirable about composites is that it allows Dr. Chung to keep more of your natural tooth structure intact than amalgams. We believe the more natural structure you keep the healthier and longer lasting your normal teeth will be. For a conservative Dentist you can trust, Call Springwater Dental for all your dental fillings and further information on tooth decay in Portland (503) 902-6604. We also offer sedation dentistry.

Do Not Cheat Yourself on Dental Care

Along with brushing and flossing regularly, it is recommended for everyone who has teeth to receive regular dental check-ups for good oral health. If neglected, you may incur tooth pain, nerve pain, and infection, which may lead to enough decay to warrant a root canal or even extraction. As you live your day to day life, your tooth enamel naturally comes in contact with your mouth’s saliva and the food that you eat and causes plaque build-up (sticky film that contains decay producing bacteria) on your tooth’s enamel. As this plaque hardens, it becomes tartar that regular brushing and flossing cannot eliminate. Dental cleanings scrape the tartar and plaque off for nice clean teeth. If your dental care is neglected it may lead to treatments such as dental implants, crowns, dental bridges and cosmetic dentures that could have been avoided by simple cleanings and good oral hygiene. Do not cheat yourself on dental care and do it all painlessly by sedation dentistry. Call Dr. Chung at Springwater Dental for dental fillings in Portland. (503) 902-6604

What Can I Do For My Children With Regard to Tooth Decay?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that the first visit to a dentist occur around the time the first tooth erupts in the mouth. This is a great time to discuss diet, hygiene, tooth decay, prevention and fluoride with Dr. Chung. The first full examination should be around two to two and a half years old. It is also recommended that you start wiping your baby’s gums with a soft cloth after each feeding. You should also introduce the toothbrush, brushing twice a day when the first tooth erupts. Use a non-fluoride toothpaste until your child is able to spit and only use a pea sized amount of toothpaste. Please supervise your children until they are able to remove all plaque on their own. Come and introduce your children to the best dentist in Portland Dr. Chung at Springwater Dental. Click here for more information. Ask about our sedation dentistry.

Springwater Dental rocks! First of all, it’s in my neighborhood, so I can walk there. Everything is new, clean, homey and high-tec, like showing me my x-rays on the laptop. Dr. Paul is young enough to be current, old enough to have the experience that I want in a dentist. Staff is super friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. Seem to be warm and genuinely caring people.

Wow is all I can really say. I used to be terrified of the dentist, but Dr. Chung has a very calming bedside manner and is so very thorough that its actually a treat for me to see him. He removed my wisdom teeth a couple years ago, and took away excruciating pain I had learned to live with; then last week he saw me the same day I called to see why my mouth was hurting again. In a single visit, he was able to treat my mouth AND stay in my budget

Dr. Chung is absolutely a top notch dentist. He fixed my molar after it got re-infected 7 years after my first root canal. The anesthesia was literally painless and the nitrous gas put me at ease in spite of me feeling anxious during the procedure. My new crown is so much prettier than my last crown and looks like a natural tooth. Thank you Dr. Chung and Mary for turning a grueling dental procedure into a pleasant experience!
